Kauai

Kauai- the paradise garden of Hawaii is the place where Captain Cook first set his feet in 1778. It is the only exception along with a few small neighboring islands that took the courage to defy attempts by King Kamehameha I for unification of Hawaii. At a latter point of time, however, the reigning King of Kauai agreed to the annexation with the unified Hawaii.

Specialties of the Kauai Island

The island is distinguished by its verdant green taro fields scattered over the entire island. The beautiful heart shaped leaves of taro plants symbolize the island of Kauai. Kauai is the oldest and northernmost of the chain of Hawaiian Islands; it was formed some six million years ago. Kauai’s stunning scenic beauty include sharp mountain spires and rough and steep cliffs on the one hand and lush green valleys on the other. The tropical climate is just right for the feathered friends; it is the abode of thirty one species of birds. The primitive origin resulted into many geological wonders; it is the home of Waimea Canyon, which is 10 miles long, and one mile wide.

Kauai is a kind of place that awaits luxurious relaxation, dramatic encounter with virgin nature and lots of adventurous activities. From perfectly manicured golf courses to luxury resorts, from breathtaking romance of the nature to thrilling activities…Kauai offers you all that is expected out of an exciting vacation. The attractions in this island can be divided into three main groups: Hanalei / Princeville in the north, Poipu in the south, and the Royal Coconut Coast in the east.

The north of the Kauai is a typical romantic gateway. The wet North welcomes you into dense rainforests and desolate beaches. This is the gateway to the extremely alluring Napali Coastline. Follow the beautiful hiking trails through the lush green rain forests and breathtaking water falls to reach the Napali coast. If you are not willing to take up the labor, simply take a helicopter ride to land on the otherwise inaccessible Napali coast. Visit the taro cultivations in Hanalei, while enjoying your stay in the princely Princeville Resort built amidst the wilderness of the Northern rain forest.

In contrast to wet north, the southern parts of Kauai are sunny and dry. The southern side of this island is adorned with a number of crescent-shaped beaches among which Poipu beach is the main attraction. The dazzling beaches under the backdrop of sunny weather and blue sky have turned this area to a major center for swimming, snorkeling, and surfing. In addition to the various kinds of sea sports, you can take a historical walking tour along the 10-mile Koloa Heritage Trail. To get the taste of native culture, just revel in the picturesque town of Hanapepe with old worldly charms.

The coconut coast

The coconut groves lined along the golden sand beaches in the eastern side of Kauai earned this side of the island the name, ‘the Coconut Coast’. This part of the island is characterized by its rich plant life, which is the result of the fertility of the lands granted by Wailua River. Enjoy a boat cruise or kayaking through the Wailua River to discover the scenic beauty of fern draped river banks
